Odds on, younger readers won't recognise this vanished section of Buchanan Street.
It's the 1950s, and we're looking north, from the corner of Bath Street, towards the city's old Navy, Army and Air Force Institute (NAAFI) building. Once a place of rest and recuperation for the armed services, it later became the Chevalier Club, Glasgow's first casino, and the HQ of the Rio Stakis hospitality empire.
The George Hotel, on the left, once the haunt of theatre stars, later fell on hard times, and was eventually gutted to become shops.
The entire block on the right of this picture is now occupied by the Buchanan Galleries.
